I’m Elaine Gonzalez, a visual artist based in Los Angeles. I paint and create works that converge bold shapes, colors and ideas, often using the figure and materiality to convey a sense of place. With a background in fashion and education in fine art, you will find that materials such as fiber, paint and wood dance around throughout my work.
My work explores identity through the depiction of clothing and textile surfaces, which function as markers of personal and cultural history.
While my work is personal, it is not only about myself. I view art as a space where individual and collective voices intersect. Through imagery and material choices, I attempt to capture moments of vulnerability, resilience, and quiet introspection that resonate beyond a single perspective.
Looking forward, I hope my work continues to evolve in both scale and context. It’s important that my work remains grounded in curiosity and exploration. Ultimately, my goal is not simply to produce objects but to cultivate a practice that reflects growth, honesty, and a deep engagement with the world around me.
