Places to be

Hello, hello! I went to the Kleefield contemporary museum last night to look June Edmonds painting called Silence. It was incredible. It was a very textured and dimensional painting of the confederate flag but in pastels and confectionary delight. She often uses patterns and colors and I was grateful to have been in her class where she taught us her method and approach to creating abstract art. Her powerful message behind the painting was even more inspiring because she exudes so much passion and emotion through her work. I appreciate her bold expression as an artist and am inspired to also be passionate about using my voice and making art. I have yet to visit with her and it was not an “off-campus” event, but I plan to reach her and let her know how much I admire her Silence painting.

This weekend I am off to Denver, Colorado, visiting for a friend’s 50th birthday party the Rio restaurant in downtown. I am really excited about this trip and know that it will be full of social interaction. I am excited to get away to a new (and very cold) place for the weekend any from my kiddos and husband to have some me time. I plan to record in to my sketchbook during the voyage. Many of the friends at the party will be artists and musicians so it will for sure be a great opportunity for networking and introducing myself as an artist. I’ll be visit the Denver Art Museum and just gathering ideas for my exciting new project. I can’t wait to share and I'll update you all on the people I met and the places I saw on Monday!
